Nobody likes to waste time doing tasks that are unnecessarily eating up time, tasks that could be automated. That is were macros come in. By setting up a macro, you can have your computer do a repetitive, time-consuming task for you and thus you can be more productive. The Macro Express application helps you with this task by making it easy to set up macros. It is a properly good and powerful Windows macro utility.

To get started with Macro Express, you will have to download a 13 MB executable from the web and run it. A setup wizard will show up and will guide you on the path to installing Macro Express. You can pick one of two paths: Default and Custom Installation. Pick the Default Installation and the entire program will be installed in the Program Files folder and Macro Express will automatically run at startup. Pick the Custom Installation, which is advisable if you’re an advanced user, and you will get to choose the installation folder, which components to install, and change defaults for other options.

Using macros is not something that novice users do and that is reflected by Macro Express’ interface which is focused on functionality, not eye candy. Still, the macro wizards make it quite easy to set up a macro. For the purposes of testing Macro Express, I used the wizard to set it up so that the Chrome web browser will automatically launch at a specific time, on a daily basis.

Do note that this is just a very basic example of what you can do with macros. You can set up macros to do pretty much anything you can think of. And you can set it up so that various triggers launch your macros. Macros can be run by pressing a sequence of keys, a hotkey, a window that shows up, or a specific time of the day. An advanced user will have no problems creating, editing, and playing back macros with Macro Express.

30 days is the amount of time you will have on your hands to test for free the functionality Macro Express has to offer. Once that evaluation period is over, you will have to get a license to keep using Macro Express. Cons:
Macro Express Pro has more features.

Pros

Choose between a Default and a Custom Installation. Works with any Windows version. Macro Wizards help create macros. More than 490 macro commands are supported. With Macro Express you can create, edit, and playback macros. Macros can be triggered by hotkeys, sequences of key presses, active windows, and schedules.

Cons

ider spending a bit more money and getting a license for Macro Express Pro. For a few more dollars you will get a lot of extra features. You can see a chart that details the differences between the two versions on the developer's site. Macro Express is a properly good Windows macro utility. It’s a must have for anyone who wants to be more productive and cut out repetitive, time-consuming tasks.
